Debarking and Wood Preparation

Debarking is carried out before wooden logs or sticks are pulped for papermaking purposes. This procedure entails hacking the bark entirely in order to obtain the aforementioned logs and sticks.  The bark doesn’t contribute to the process in any nature and instead adds impurities and dirt, making it a removable component.

Debarking can be conducted either mechanically with the usage of Drum-type Barker or hydraulically wherein high-pressure water jets are used to discard the bark. This discarded bark isn’t wasted because it serves the purpose of fuel or garden mulch.
