The acquisition of collector coins goes beyond pure collecting. On the one hand, a product of recognized value is acquired. On the other hand, a fragment of history and the most representative events captured in the different pieces are kept. The FNMT-RCM, as heir to the Madrid Mint*, has extensive experience in minting coins. In 1989 the minting of the first line of collector coins began, and it currently occupies a relevant position in the international numismatic markets.
High qualities
The minting for collector coins is made fundamentally in precious metals (gold and silver), and is offered in the highest quality or proof finishes. The proof mintages are characterized by the contrast between the matted images and the mirrored background. This quality is achieved through a special treatment of the die but, above all, through a very careful process and rigorous quality control that is characteristic of the FNMT-RCM.
Careful minting process
The production of collector coins begins with the design and engraving of the dies. At the FNMT-RCM, minting is done in manual feed presses. With this process, the deterioration of the blanks is avoided and great precision is obtained, being able to hit the same piece several times until the total expression of the image is achieved. A careful design and a minting process one by one, complemented with an individualized review of the finished product, maximum care in the cleaning and inspection of the dies and the use of the latest techniques in metallic coatings of the dies, offer as a result a product of maximum quality in coin of collection and medals.

The annual issue of different collections and individual pieces that are offered to the public and that enjoy a great reception stands out. Among them, the classic silver coins of 2,000 pesetas, which with the entry of the European monetary system, moved to values of €12. Among the issues of previous years it is still possible to acquire some of these pieces that were so successful.
