The main purpose of minting and issuing the 2 Euro coins is cultural/artistic dissemination and the commemoration of important events.
2021 - Toledo
In 2021, a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Historic City of Toledo is put into circulation.
On the obverse, there is a view of the Puerta del Sol , a building built in the 14th century in the Mudejar style, and a detail of the mural decoration of the Prayer Room of the Synagogue of Samuel Levin, located in the middle of the Jewish quarter of Toledo and current Sephardic Museum.
This is the twelfth coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, in which this architecture has been included since 1986.
2020 - Mudejar
In 2020, a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to Mudejar art in Aragon is put into circulation.
The obverse of this coin reproduces the image of the Tower of El Salvador (Teruel), erected in the 14th century when the Muslim population still survived in the city. It is considered the latest tower of Teruel Mudejar.
The tower imitates the structure of the Almohad minaret of concentric square towers between which stairs are located. The interior tower has three superimposed floors covered with a ribbed vault and a bell tower with pointed and semicircular arches. Mixtilinear arches and glazed ceramics in green and white colors dominate its ornamentation.
This is already the eleventh coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, in which this architecture has been included since 1986.
2019 - Avila
During 2019, a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the historic center of Ávila and its churches outside the walls is put into circulation.
The obverse of said coin shows the image of a fragment of "The Wall of Ávila", a universal monument, admired for its greatness and spectacular nature, which reaches a perimeter of more than two thousand meters with more than eighty towers.
This is already the tenth coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2018 - 50th anniversary of HM King Felipe VI
During 2018, a second 2 euro commemorative coin is put into circulation on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of His Majesty the King.
The obverse of this coin reproduces the coat of arms of His Majesty Felipe VI.
2018 - Santiago de Compostela
During 2018, a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Old Town of Santiago is put into circulation.
On the obverse of said coin, the image of Santiago Peregrino is reproduced, located in the central arch of the canvas of the Holy Door, in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
This is the fourth coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2017 - Santa Maria del Naranco
During 2017, a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Church of Santa María del Naranco (Asturias) was put into circulation.
The obverse of this coin reproduces the façade of this representative building of Asturian pre-Romanesque art.
This is already the eighth coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
2016 - Segovia Aqueduct
During 2016, a commemorative 2-euro coin dedicated to the Segovia Aqueduct is put into circulation.
On the obverse, in the central area of the coin, the image of the aqueduct is reproduced.
This is already the seventh coin in the annual series dedicated to the sites in Spain included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
