AboutHAAS Recycling-Systems

Individual components and complete systems for the recycling industry

Volker HAAS, Managing Director of HAAS GmbH, was born in Stockum-Püschen in 1960. He and his three brothers (Armin, Martin and Harald) were born into mechanical engineering, so it is not surprising that they all learned the mechanical trade.

In 1989 , Volker Haas was faced with the question of how he should continue professionally. With a "bag full of ideas" and a "box full of tools" the decision was made to become self-employed for stationary machines such as chippers, hammer mills, screens and conveyors in the sawmill/timber industry.

It all started in a double garage in Stockum-Püschen. A hall with a basement office in Bad Marienberg quickly became the company headquarters of " HAAS HolzzerzerMENTungs- und Fördertechnik ". Martin Haas stood by his brother from day one and spent every day in the workshop designing the first machines. In the first half of the business year, Armin Haas followed his two brothers and two other permanent employees were now part of the HAAS team. Just a few months later, in 1990 , HAAS was converted into a GmbH.

Until 1992, HAAS only delivered individual components within Germany and Europe. In 1992 the first complete systems for waste wood recycling were ordered. The Schmid company in Gussenstadt, one of the first major HAAS customers, still has their system in operation today. Constant plant expansions led to an increase in performance, today Schmid processes 50,000 tons of waste wood per year!

Also in 1992 the green light was given for the new company building in Dreisbach. Gradually the new building was expanded, most recently a 3rd production/manufacturing hall.

The installation of a waste wood recycling plant with a required throughput of 40 t/h achieved HAAS' breakthrough. The Bowie company in Tiel, the Netherlands, was already able to process 50 t/h with the planned system (not standard at the time). Conversion work with new conveying and screening technology was even able to increase the capacity to 60 t/h.

Since the end of the 1990s, HAAS has also been producing and supplying machines for shredding and sorting waste.

Harald Haas decided to follow his brothers and has been active in our technical office ever since.

In 1999 the TYRON - today's flagship at HAAS - experienced its hour of birth. The double-shaft primary shredder shreds waste wood, green waste, household waste, bulky waste or industrial waste and light metals. Over 350 TYRONS have already been sold worldwide!

After his studies at HAAS, Sascha Kloft took over international sales and promoted the HAAS mobile technology division. Since 2015 he has been supporting his stepfather Volker Haas as second managing director and will positively shape the further fortunes of HAAS GmbH in the future.

In order to support the new line of business and the entire portfolio in the expanded divisions by name, the registered company name " HAAS Holzzerzerkleins- und Fördertechnik " was supplemented with the registered trademark "HAAS Recycling-Systems".

In 2018, the tried-and-tested hammer mill technology was presented in mobile form for the first time at the IFAT. The ARTHOS 1600 will be delivered from the beginning of 2019. Also in the future we will not get tired and we will continue to work on the development of new innovations.
