Plywood outperforms all substitute wood-based panels on the market today. A highly stable panel, even when exposed to moisture or high humidity, it is up to seven times more resistant to thickness swell than substitute wood-based panels. Plywood also returns to its original dimensions when it dries.

Plywood is stronger than substitute wood-based panels in the four important engineering strength properties of bending, tension, compression and planar shear. Plywood weighs up to 40% less than substitute wood-based panels of equivalent thickness. A highly impact-resistant panel, it continues to perform even when wet. West Fraser is the largest sheathing plywood producer in Canada. Currently, the Company's combined production would build around 50,000 average houses or require 8,000 trucks to ship to market. Distribution to our customer base from Alberta Plywood is by truck or intermodal container. From the British Columbia plants we have the option of railcar shipments as well as truck and intermodal containers.
