West Fraser engineered laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is manufactured from northern lodgepole pine.  This species is noted for its tight growth rings, small knots, and minimal shrinking and swelling, which results in a strong and stable wood fiber source.  Our LVL takes advantage of these characteristics by offering a high-strength product line.

Stiffness (related to E value) is not the same as strength (Fb and Fv). It is not always the controlling factor in design applications.  In a marketplace that charges premiums for high MOE products, we can provide a 1.9e or 1.8e LVL that has superior strength properties than much of the 2.0e available in North America.  Why leave money on the table by using 2.0e beams and headers when you don't have to?
