SOMATEC high-speed turret winder HAW

The SOMATEC HAW high-speed turret winder is the non-stop winder for the highest demands when changing reels in-line. It winds sensitive materials such as sensitive foils, decorative paper or nonwovens at speeds of up to 1500 m/min. The rolls are changed at full web speed. The winding geometry remains optimal - in contrast to the normal turret winder principle - and the turning movement has no negative influence on the winding result.

The turret winder is the standard solution when it comes to an automatic roll change in centrally driven winding. However, the good winding geometry is disturbed when the turning movement begins, since the optimal winding position at the contact roller has to be left. Auxiliary devices such as rider rollers or turning contact rollers are only of limited help here and are not a substitute for a contact roller that is permanently on the lap, especially at the highest speeds.

This is different with the HAW high-speed turret winder: each winding position has its own contact roller system and its own roll changing system on the turret discs. This means that the turning movement can no longer disrupt the winding process and the winding process takes place under optimal conditions from the first to the last layer. The roll change takes place at full web speed with a right-angled cut on adhesively prepared cores, whereby these - depending on the requirements - can be taken up without a shaft or on winding shafts. An interesting alternative to conventional winding shaft handling is the integrated winding shaft handling , also developed by SOMATEC , since the shafts remain in the machine and separate shaft handling is not required.
