SIZING PRESSES

The purpose of the Size Press is to apply a solution of starch, glue or dye to the dry surface of the paper.

This operation allows to improve the mechanical and printability characteristics of the sheet.

Other benefits can be a lower tendency to get dirty, greater stiffness and reduced air permeability. The impregnation of the sheet can take place on both faces or on one side only.

A series of jets with adjustable flow creates a well between the two cylinders of the press and the lateral collection trays with a uniform concentration of the additive to be added.

The passage of the sheet in the NIP determines the impregnation of one or both faces.

For the impregnation of the sheet on one side only, the Size is equipped with a lubrication system with a jet of atomized water of the dry cylinder.
