Banknotes have a hard life. They are passed from hand to hand millions of times a day, folded, stapled, creased and are exposed to many other abuses, more than any other valuable document.

The way banknotes are treated by us, they can become dirty and become carriers of bacteria and microbes. In a humid climate, fungi and mold usually also appear, which also lead to a deterioration in the condition and are accompanied by an unpleasant odour.

Banknotes are withdrawn from circulation when they are too dirty to be circulated. Especially when the issuing central banks are pursuing a "clean note policy". Banknotes are mostly taken out of circulation because of dirt and not because of damage. To extend life in circulation, Landqart has developed CleanNote TM , a special treatment for cotton paper. This gives the substrate better resistance to sweat, moisture and sebum (sebum), which is the main cause of banknotes turning yellow.

In addition to this anti-soiling effect, we have drawn on the wealth of experience of the Swiss biomedical industry to protect banknotes from mould, bacteria and fungus with CleanNote TM . Independent laboratories have proven that CleanNote TM stops the proliferation of bacteria such as Bacillus Cereus or Salmonella (known for causing food poisoning) or pathogenic fungi such as Aspergillus Terreus (mould) and Pityrosporum Ovale (skin scab, yeast). This drastically reduces the risk of banknotes becoming disease carriers. In addition, CleanNote TM helps notes stay in circulation longer and in better condition
