Introduction:
Metsä is investing SEK 4.2 billion (EUR 370 million) to expand and modernize the Mariestad tissue paper mill, which includes the addition of new converting lines as a key component of this project.
Features:
Valmet Tissue Converting S.p.A. will supply two advanced converting lines for producing rolled tissue papers for the consumer market, while C.G. Bretting Manufacturing Co., Inc. will provide one line dedicated to folded paper towels for professional use.
These new converting lines will have a combined capacity of 70,000 tons of tissue paper.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and high-efficiency components, the new lines are designed to maximize performance and productivity. They feature highly automated and high-quality rewinding machines that enhance safety and efficiency. Additionally, the latest folding machine technology will enable the development of innovative new products, expanding our capabilities.
Metsä’s Mariestad mill produces tissue products under the Serla, Lambi, and Katrin brands. Following the expansion, the mill will operate nine converting lines.
The expansion emphasizes sustainable production, with the mill’s fresh fiber-based products expected to constitute 80% of production once the project is completed in the latter half of 2025.
