Power Generation

VOONER ® provides a variety of pumps for the power generation industry.  Long-lasting stainless steel is used for fly ash recovery conveying systems and geothermal power plants condenser gas extraction systems.  Cast iron two-stage vacuum pumps are used to exhaust condensers from condensers of steam turbines.  Cast iron and wetted stainless steel parts single stage vacuum pumps are used on gypsum dewatering filters for FGD scrubbers.

  • Fly ash recovery conveying systems. The presence of H2S gas mixed with water of the liquid ring makes surphuric acid (H2SO4) makes it necessary to use 316 stainless steel.
  • Geothermal power plant vacuum removal of Non-Condensable Gases (NCG); nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulphide (H2S). The outlet specifications from the turbine must be analyzed rigorously by Vooner using thermodynamics to size the appropriate pump and speed.  Hybrid systems are designed by Vooner using air ejectors and inter-condensers in series before entering the liquid ring vacuum pumps.  Vooner has of successful experience from installing Vooner vacuum systems in Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico and others.
  • Cast iron two stage high vacuum (26 to 29” Hg vac) for exhausting non-condensable gases from condensers of coal or nuclear power generated steam turbines.

Testing of Vooner pumps is done methods according to the specifications of the Heat Exchange Institute, HEI.  Vooner is a participating member of HEI and a member of the vacuum technology committee. Vooner is a member of the Geothermal Energy Association, GEA and the Geothermal Research Council, GRC. Vooner engineers have presented two papers to at GRC conferences. Paper 1: Paper 2:
