Basic principles for developing a packaging solution for fruits and vegetables. The practice of working with the buyer.
EXPERIENCE WITH PACKAGING FOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES IDENTIFIED 6 IMPORTANT RULES WHEN DEVELOPING A PACKAGING SOLUTION:
1. Overall dimensions of the package must be a multiple of the size of a standard pallet. Packaging with products must be stacked on a pallet without voids inside the pallet and "overhangs" outside the pallet.
2. On the packaging (for trays) there must be locks-locks that provide rigid sequential fixation of the trays in the stack, preventing shift in the row. This makes it possible to form a stable transport package and fix it rigidly with the help of protective corners made of pressed cardboard and polypropylene horizontal straps. Such a package will successfully cope with dynamic and static loads during transportation.
3. Packaging must allow the products to "breathe" and be ventilated. For this, it is necessary to have ventilation holes in the design, recesses for blowing, which provide heat exchange.
4. The height of the package should ensure that products are stacked with a height gap of 3-5 cm.
5. The inner and outer layers of corrugated cardboard must be made from raw materials with hydrophobic and moisture-resistant properties (for this purpose, cellulose or special waste cardboard is used). Such a composition makes it possible not only to impart water-resistant properties to the package and thereby prevent a decrease in the strength of the package during storage in conditions of high humidity and low temperatures, but also to keep the product juicy.
6. Packaging print design should be bright and original to highlight products at points of sale.
