Double wide shaft collars can be used as short rigid couplings in applications where space is limited. The double wide shaft collar has a reduced torque capability compared to a standard rigid coupling due to its use of a single socket head cap screw per shaft. However, the compact size of the collar reduces inertia making it ideal for motion control applications. Ruland manufactures double wide shaft collars in 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish, 303 stainless steel, and high-strength 2024 aluminum. Bore sizes range from 1/8" to 2" and 6mm to 25mm.
