PMR Rotary Feeder

PMR Rotary Feeder

PMR Rotary Feeder

The PMR rotary feeder combines a stationary tool-steel knife and a rotor with helical vanes to provide a shearing action for cutting off oversized materials in a feedstock, minimizing jamming or interruption of the feed. Functionally, the PMR is both a metering device and an airlock. PMR feeders are built for long, continuous operation with provisions for eventual rebuilding.

Common Applications

  • Pneumatic conveying systems
  • Boiler feed
  • Cement alternative fuel systems
  • Co-generation operations
  • Biomass-fired power generation
  • MSW-fired power generation
  • Pulp & paper mills
  • Wood chips
  • Bark
  • Mixed wood fuels
  • Mixed plastics fuel
  • Tire-derived fuels
  • Refuse-derived fuels
  • Plastic flake
  • Peanut hulls, nut shells
  • Forest waste, ag waste
  • Construction & demolition waste

Key Advantages

Wear resistance built-in for long-running cycles before rebuilding or replacement should be considered; a minimum of one year for the most abrasive products up to 5-7 years or more for less abrasive products.

Adaptable to unprepared or minimally-prepared fuels.

Precision-machined housings and rotors to minimize rotor-to-barrel clearances and limit blowby (leakage) in pneumatic conveying applications.

Optional Tri-Braze barrels are well-suited for handling abrasive materials and can often double the cycle between rebuilds.

Problems Solved

Variations in product/fuel quality, dimensions, moisture, etc. have no impact on PMR feeder performance; alleviates the need for extensive pre-processing of the product/fuel as the feeder can adapt to varying, non-homogenous conditions.

Foreign objects or material-other-than-fuel are often found in product streams; the robust design of the PMR feeders handles dirt, sand, small rocks, and small metal such as nails or screws with minimal disruption to your process and minimal damage to the feeder.

Fuel availability and pricing for various types of fuels can make an economic difference to your plant’s operations.  PMR feeders are adaptable to a wide range of fuel types and specifications without changing the feeder configuration or options; this provides maximum flexibility to source fuels.
