Thermal paper has a chemical coating which reacts to heat and changes colour when exposed to the sudden change in temperature to allow for ink less printing.
This type of paper is used primarily for thermal printers where there is a need for fast and reliable printing in machines such as cash registers and credit card machines which produce receipts and tickets.
Uses for Thermal Paper
Thermal is produced in many different qualities and formulations to meet the needs of different requirements in a wide range of industries.
Although thermal is commonly used for point of sale (POS) it is also used in many specialised fields such as healthcare and gaming tickets (lottery) where there is a reliance on high quality, accurate images.
Thermal printing is much faster than traditional printers making the service they provide more efficient and allows for higher volumes to be printed with less noise.
