The classic grades are subdivided into grade groups G and W. The "G" grades are stronger papers with a higher proportion of fresh fiber and a lower filler content. This gives them better mechanical properties (tear strength, burst strength, etc.) and a higher gloss. The "W" grades are softer papers with a higher proportion of recycled fibers. They were developed for wax and tablecloth applications, but meanwhile also represent an inexpensive alternative for various other applications.
