Mineral oil based conventional greases can operate effectively at lower temperatures ranging from 0 to -10 °C. However, at extremely lower temperatures, say below -10 °C, regular greases are not recommended as their performance is limited mainly by the pour point of the base oil. Greases with synthetic base oils (PAO, Esters, Silicone oil and PFPE) with lower pour point are preferred. Careful consideration should also be given to the thickener type and other ingredients of the grease.
