The wedge gate valve is a linear motion, multi-turn general service valve. Primarily for on/off, non-throttling services. It is operared by lifting a barrier away from the flow path, there is no obstruction to the flow when full opened meaning there is little to no flow resistance. The valve is closed by an angular faced wedge or gate that moved down to block flow and then rests within a wedge to further improve sealing.
