The radiometric bulk flow measurement from Berthold is used to measure flow rates and throughput on all kinds of conveying systems. The major advantage of our systems is that the measurement performance remains stable even after years of operation with a repeatability of ±1 %, meaning there is no need to recalibrate with time. Due to the non-contacting nature of the measurement and the lack of moving parts, encrustations, dirt, wind and changing belt tension do not affect the bulk flow measurement. Combined with the conveyor velocity signal, the mass flow rate is accurately determined without any negative influence from dust, temperature, vibrations, varying particle sizes or chemical properties of the measured material.

The noncontact radiometric bulk flow measurement works with a scintillation detector installed above and a shielded source mounted below the conveying system. Radiation is directed through the conveyor and attenuated as it passes through the conveyor and product. The extent to which it is attenuated depends on the conveyor load.In addition to the standard high accuracy arrangement with rod source and point detector, we also offer fan beam sources and rod detectors for an economical but reliable measurement.
