The need for de-inking chemicals

De-inking or recycling chemicals are used to allow paper manufacturers to use recycled fibre. The fibre can range from printing and writing grades such as “black and white” office waste to newspapers and glossy magazines. The recycling chemicals work by helping to detach the ink from the fibre and dispersing the ink particles into a small enough particle size so that they may be collected during a foam flotation process. The ink is collected during the flotation process using chemicals known as collectors and further dispersion may be required if two or more flotation stages are present in the system.

Application areas

These chemicals are either added to the pulping process or are introduced just before flotation to collect the ink.
