Introduction:

Valmet has received an order from Sun Paper to supply a complete board making line, along with automation and lifecycle support, for the company’s mill in Nanning, China. The investment aims to increase containerboard production capacity while improving operational reliability and enhancing energy and resource efficiency.

Features:

The delivery includes a high-capacity board machine equipped with advanced technologies designed to support stable, energy-efficient production. The selected solutions are expected to improve machine performance, reduce energy consumption and help Sun Paper achieve its production capacity targets.

Valmet will supply a complete board making line, from headboxes to winders, featuring several advanced technologies that are new to the region. Among them is the Sleeve Roll technology, which improves dewatering efficiency in the forming section. The combination of modern equipment, automation and lifecycle services will enable reliable, high-capacity production of kraft liner and testliner while meeting the mill’s efficiency objectives.

The project also includes a comprehensive lifecycle support package comprising spare parts, digital services and paper machine clothing to ensure consistent machine performance throughout its operating life. In addition, Valmet will upgrade selected existing equipment at the mill to improve overall production efficiency.

A broad range of automation solutions will be delivered to enhance machine safety, optimise production efficiency and support the mill’s transition towards higher levels of operational autonomy.

The new board making line is scheduled to start up in the autumn of 2027.
