Introduction:

Ence plans to invest nearly 80 million euros to support the decarbonisation of the Principality of Asturias through its biofactory in Navia.

Features:

The company will invest 30 million euros in producing fluff pulp, diversifying production to include hygienic and absorbent components that were previously imported. Expected by September 2025, this initiative aims to reduce the environmental footprint by using natural, compostable, and biodegradable fibres.

The biofactory supports activity in industrial, forestry, and logistics sectors, as well as transport, commerce, hospitality, and public services, acting as a catalyst in rural areas.

The biofactory’s operations contribute 840 million euros to national GDP and support 7,000 jobs across direct, indirect, and induced employment.
