Introduction

Suzano, one of the world’s leading pulp producers, has selected ANDRITZ to modernize the electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) serving the recovery boilers at its Aracruz pulp mill in Espírito Santo, Brazil.

Key Features:

Under the contract, ANDRITZ will carry out a comprehensive upgrade of five ESPs associated with recovery boilers A and C. The scope of work includes the supply of advanced Switched Integrated Rectifier (SIR) technology, replacement of internal precipitator components, installation of new ash-handling systems, and delivery of related electromechanical installation services.

The modernization project is designed to enhance the reliability and operational availability of the ESPs while improving overall performance. The upgraded systems will enable Suzano to recover and recycle a greater volume of valuable process chemicals and ensure emissions remain within regulatory requirements. The initiative aligns with Suzano’s commitment to operational efficiency, environmental stewardship, and sustainable production.

Commissioning of the final upgraded precipitator is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
