Introduction:

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. has chosen international technology group ANDRITZ to deliver a new recovery boiler for its pulp mill in Ishinomaki, Japan.

Features:

The recovery boiler is designed with a capacity of 2,200 tds/d and steam parameters of 8.3 MPa and 505 °C. Built for long operating cycles, it incorporates advanced automation and digitalisation solutions.

To enhance efficiency, the evaporation plant includes a high-dry solids concentrator with pressurised storage tanks. This setup increases the dry solids concentration of the firing black liquor, optimising recovery boiler performance.

An ash leaching system will also be installed to remove chloride and potassium from the electrostatic precipitator ash, while enabling sodium and sulfate to be returned to the chemical recovery cycle.

Start-up of the new boiler is planned for 2028.
