Operations
Larox® FFP filters are recessed-plate membrane filters in which the chambers or plates are arranged vertically in a pack. The plate pack is located between two rigid plates that are opened and closed using hydraulic cylinders. During discharge the entire pack is opened to allow the discharge of the cakes. In the closed position the plates form a solid plate pack of sealed chambers with two filter cloths between each pair of plates.
The process liquids enter the filter through slurry distribution or filtrate collecting channels that are formed when the plate pack is closed. The slurry to be dewatered is pumped into all chambers simultaneously to form a filter cake on both sides of the chamber. After a cake has formed, the membranes are inflated to compress the cakes and reduce the moisture content. Each chamber contains a flexible rubber membrane.
Drying air is then introduced into the chambers through the filtrate channels to dry the cake. After filtration is completed, opening the plate pack discharges the cake.
Specifications
Larox® FFP filters are available with different filtration areas, from 100 m2 to 1000 m2, and chamber volumes from 1.9 m3 up to 20 m3. They are available with automatic control of both mechanical operation and process optimization. The filter’s programmable logic controller controls all operations. Additional equipment, such as conveyors and process equipment, can be integrated into the control system.
