VEP acquires majority stake in Cordier Papier

Cordier sees potential in specialty pulp and paper for industrial applications.

Dutch industrial investment group Value Enhancement Partners BV (VEP) has acquired a majority stake in Cordier Papier Holding GmbH and Cordier Spezialpapier GmbH, based in in the southwest of Germany. The new owners of Cordier will be specTra Industriekapital GmbH, Benecke GmbH and Value Enhancement Partners B.V. Cordier was so far owned by specTra Industriekapital GmbH, Benecke GmbH, Sigriz Vermögensverwaltungs GmbH and VRV AG. The parties have agreed to keep the details of the transaction confidential.

Cordier told EUWID that potential has been identified to enhance particularly specialty cotton pulp for industrial applications and new technical and graphic specialty paper for worldwide industrial customers. Especially for this no changes have been planned for Cordier’s workforce. "We want to grow and not shrink”, the company stressed.

Cordier currently employs 235 employees at three mills in Rhineland Palatinate and Hesse in Germany. The company is producing woodfree uncoated paper mainly for the European book market as well as technical specialty paper for global niche markets. Cordier further produces cotton pulp from natural fibre and industrial textile sections for in-house use as well as external customers.  

VEP was founded in 1999 and is a corporate investor in small and medium-sized companies in Northwest Europe.
