Valmet to supply an Advantage DCT 200 tissue production line to Sofidel America in United States

3 October 2023

Sofidel America has made a strategic decision to invest in Valmet's Advantage DCT tissue line, incorporating an extensive automation package, flow control valves, and Industrial Internet solutions at its Circleville mill in Ohio, United States. This investment is driven by the growing demand from American consumers for high-quality tissue products with a minimal environmental footprint. The start-up of the new line is scheduled for the second half of 2025.

The order for this project is part of Valmet's third-quarter 2023 orders received, and its exact value will not be disclosed. Valmet and Sofidel have a longstanding partnership, with multiple conventional and hybrid tissue machines installed in various locations. The new Advantage DCT 200 (TM 3) line follows the installation of two Valmet Advantage NTT lines at the Circleville mill in 2017.

Simone Capuano, Executive VP, Operations, and Supply Chain at Sofidel America, stated, "Sofidel has a strong focus on sustainable and high-performing technologies that can help us increase capacity while minimizing our environmental footprint. Our recent experience with Advantage ViscoNip rebuild projects has convinced us that it's possible to achieve energy savings and excellent paper properties while maintaining stable operating conditions. The inclusion of Industrial Internet solutions will further enhance our performance."

Johan Björn, Sales Director at Valmet's Tissue Mills Business Unit, Paper Business Line, expressed pride in the continued partnership with Sofidel and emphasized the efficiency of Valmet's solutions. He said, "The combination of Valmet's Advantage DCT tissue machine, automation systems, flow control, and Industrial Internet solutions represents the most efficient production line available today. We will work closely together to meet the ambitious goals for this project."
