Valmet to deliver valve solutions to Sibanye-Stillwater’s Keliber lithium refinery in Kokkola, Finland

Valmet is set to provide an extensive range of critical valves and valve automation solutions for a lithium project managed by Keliber Oy, a subsidiary of Sibanye-Stillwater, located in Kokkola, Finland.
This order is part of Valmet's orders received during the third quarter of 2023. Valmet's comprehensive contribution to the lithium project also encompasses the implementation of the Valmet DNA automation system, with the initial announcement of the order made in April 2023.
The construction of the lithium refinery commenced in March 2023, with production scaling up anticipated for the latter half of 2025.
Keliber's Electrical and Automation Manager, Juha Kerttula, emphasized the importance of technologically reliable and environmentally efficient solutions for the battery chemicals production industry. Keliber aims to establish a sustainable operation for battery-grade lithium hydroxide production, requiring partners who understand their production needs well.
