Brazilian pulp and paper manufacturers Fibria and Suzano Pulp and Paper have announced the official completion of the merger of the two companies.

On 14 January, the final phase of the transaction was completed with Suzano Pulp & Paper paying BRL27.8bn (approximately €6.8bn) to the shareholders of Fibria, who in turn became shareholders of Suzano.

The resulting group Suzano is the world's leading manufacturer of eucalyptus pulp and one of the largest paper manufacturers in Latin America. The company will have an annual production capacity of 11 million t of market pulp and 1.4 million t of paper.
