NeXTimber by Timberlink Presses First CLT Panel, Begins Taking Orders

6 October 2023

Timberlink's NeXTimber facility has achieved a significant milestone by successfully producing its very first Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panel, marking a noteworthy step in the construction of Australia's exclusive combined CLT and GLT (Cross Laminated and Glue Laminated Timber) radiata pine mass timber facility. This achievement follows the production of the facility's inaugural GLT beam in August 2023.

David Oliver, Chief Marketing, Sales & Corporate Affairs Officer at Timberlink, expressed, "The entire team has been working towards this moment since we announced construction of the facility in 2020. To see the hard work of so many come to fruition is very rewarding."

Patrick Dark, Timberlink CLT/GLT Operations Manager, shared the atmosphere of positivity that surrounded the panel's successful production, acknowledging the dedication and collective effort put forth by the team involved in installing, testing, and commissioning the NeXTimber equipment.

Situated alongside Timberlink's Tarpeena, SA manufacturing facility, the newly commissioned CLT line boasts the capability to manufacture panels measuring up to 16 meters in length and 3.5 meters in width. This development represents a significant enhancement in the capacity to produce mass timber building products in Australia. Mass timber products like CLT and GLT offer a compelling and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional construction materials, contributing to the reduction of a project's embodied carbon.

The NeXTimber team at Timberlink is now open for orders of CLT and GLT products, with full-scale production at the facility scheduled to commence by the end of this month.
