LP Building Solutions Opens New LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® Facility in Bath, New York

5 October 2023

LP Building Solutions, a prominent manufacturer of high-performance building products, has announced the inauguration of its cutting-edge LP® SmartSide® ExpertFinish® prefinishing facility in Bath, New York. Spanning 90,000 square feet, this facility is set to create more than 60 new job opportunities in the region over the coming years.

Situated on a 75-acre expanse in Steuben County, New York, this multimillion-dollar ExpertFinish prefinishing facility represents a significant step for LP in meeting customer demand for their high-quality and sustainable products. To commemorate the facility's opening, LP and the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring speakers from New York state and local government.

During the ceremony, LP's Executive Vice President and General Manager of Siding, Jason Ringblom, expressed the company's excitement about becoming part of the Bath community and expanding their prefinished home siding offerings in the Northeastern U.S.

Ringblom stated, "I am honored to be a part of this historic day for both LP and the town of Bath. LP's prefinished siding product, ExpertFinish, has seen strong growth since its 2020 launch. By expanding into the Northeast, we can better serve the popular new home construction and repair and remodel markets in the region. Additionally, we are excited to welcome Steuben County and its highly skilled workforce to the LP family. We look forward to the mutual benefits this collaboration will undoubtedly bring."

With this new facility in New York, LP celebrates the opening of its 23rd manufacturing site and its 13th siding facility across North and South America. This facility joins LP's existing siding prefinishing facilities in Roaring River, Green Bay, and St. Louis.

Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Hope Knight highlighted the region's valuable assets and top-tier talent as key factors in LP's decision to expand into the Southern Tier. This move illustrates how strategic incentives are fostering growth for forward-thinking companies, creating well-paying jobs, and strengthening both Steuben County and New York State's economies.

The Southern Tier region was chosen for ExpertFinish production due to its proximity to the siding markets in the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada. LP will receive its exterior home siding products at the new facility via rail from its siding production mills. The material will then undergo painting, packaging, and distribution through LP's existing network to serve customers in the Northeast and beyond.

The facility, which commenced construction in July 2022, was celebrated by over 100 attendees at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speakers at the event included LP's Executive Vice President and General Manager of Siding Jason Ringblom, LP New York Plant Manager Jonathon O'Hora, New York State Senator Thomas F. O'Mara, New York State Assemblymember Philip A. Palmesano, Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler, Steuben County IDA Executive Director James C. Johnson, and Town of Bath Supervisor Ronald Smith.

James C. Johnson, Executive Director of the Steuben County IDA, expressed gratitude to LP for their commitment and investment in the community, highlighting the transformation of the site into an economic hub for Bath. He also expressed the IDA's eagerness to support LP's future growth in Steuben County.
