Greyboard prices are tending higher in Germany

28 March 2018

The developments in the recycled board segment in Germany are mixed. While prices of unlined chipboard are tending higher, GD board suppliers are fending off customers' demands for price cuts.

The humming economy in Germany is having a noticeable effect on the greyboard segment. According to EUWID sources, greyboard mills are implementing price hikes and are doing so against the downward trend on the market for ordinary recovered paper grades. These increases are reportedly valid for deliveries as of mid-March or from 1 April.

Suppliers of GD board, by contrast, are coming under pressure due to the significant drop in prices for ordinary recovered paper grades in Germany. Producers are fending off customers' demands for price cuts by pointing to the high prices for higher RCP grades as well as other raw and auxiliary materials.
