Geir Drangsland new CEO of Norske Skog

The board of directors of Norske Skog ASA has appointed Geir Drangsland as the new CEO, effective from September 1st. Drangsland will be taking over from Tore Hansesætre, who has chosen to depart from Norske Skog after a tenure of over 14 years within the company.

Geir Drangsland, who had been serving as the chair of the board since March 2023, will transition from his role on the board of directors to assume the position of CEO at Norske Skog, commencing on September 1st, 2023. Arvid Grundekjøn has been designated as the new chair of the board of directors, having been a board member since 2018.

Arvid Grundekjøn, chair of Norske Skog ASA, expressed, "I am delighted to announce Geir Drangsland as the new CEO of Norske Skog. Geir brings a wealth of experience from the forest industry and has been closely engaged with the management team since joining Norske Skog. Concurrently, I extend my gratitude to Tore Hansesætre for his invaluable contributions during Norske Skog's transformative journey, both as CEO and in overseeing the mill conversion projects."

Geir Drangsland himself stated, "Norske Skog holds numerous promising business prospects, and I am fully committed to realizing these opportunities in collaboration with the dedicated Norske Skog team."

Tore Hansesætre has chosen to explore career opportunities outside of Norske Skog after more than 14 years of service with the company. He remarked, "Norske Skog is an outstanding company with a highly skilled and dedicated workforce. Nevertheless, after more than 14 years at Norske Skog, including over five years in corporate management and my recent tenure as CEO, I have decided to pursue new opportunities outside the organization. I wish Norske Skog continued success in the future."
