Corenso continues on its growth path. The company has acquired a core producer in Spain which specialises in light-weight cores. This is Corenso's second plant in the country.

Corenso has announced the acquisition of core producer Mandriladora Leiza in Spain. A new company - Corenso Leiza S.L. - has been established for this purpose.

Mandriladora Leiza is located in Areso in Northern Spain. The plant produces light-weight cores mainly for the flexible packaging sector. Products include household tubes, tape cores, cash-roll cores and other small diameter products.

Corenso explained that the acquisition of Leiza would create synergies in research and development as its subsidiary Corenso Edam in the Netherlands produced a similar range of products. In addition, the company runs a plant in Tolosa, which is not far from the newly acquired plant.

Corenso is currently implementing a multiple-year investment programme. In November 2017, the company set the course for an expansion in China by announcing the construction of a new core plant in Suzhou in China. It will be Corenso's third plant in the country and it will produce cores for the textile industry in particular.

In the past year, Corenso furthermore announced the takeover of US core producer Corpak based in Richmond/Virginia, an upgrade at its Krefeld mill in Germany and its UK facilities as well as the construction of a new facility in Poland to replace the existing plant in Tychy, which also led to a capacity enlargement.

Corenso currently operates a total of three coreboard mills and 15 core plants across Europe, North America and China.
