CMPC to start up cogeneration plant at Puente Alto in October

8 October 2015

CMPC is finalizing the installation of a new cogeneration plant at its Papeles Cordillera kraft paper mill, in Puente Alto, Chile. According to the company, final commissioning is taking place at the facility at this moment, and the startup is expected to occur by the end of October.

The plant will supply all electricity demanded by the facility. The project involved the purchase of two gas turbines with capacity to generate 25MW each. "Total investment is estimated at $70 million with energy efficiency above 70%, generating 50MW. This will be enough to cover the entire electricity consumption of 60 tonnes steam/hour at the industrial complex," commented Papeles Cordillera general manager, Edgar González.
