Associated Kiln Driers completes purchase of Yarram sawmill in Victoria, Australia

1 May 2018

Associated Kiln Driers Softwoods (AKD) and Carter Holt Harvey Wood products have finalised the sale of the Yarram sawmill in Victoria, Australia, as AKD said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The Yarram operation processes approximately 150,000 cubic metres of sawlog into a range of timber products primarily for Victoria outdoor market. All existing 60 employees of the Yarram Mill have been offered on going employment.

“We see the Yarram business as a well-run operation that will be a perfect fit for the AKD Group. The acquisition provides us with a greater range of products to offer our existing customers, and also provides AKD with access to new markets and new customers,” said CEO Shane Vicary. “For AKD, it was important that there be no impact on the existing operations and employment. We believe that these assets, being the people and plant, will enhance our future and provide growth and stability.”

AKD Softwoods is a vertically integrated forest products business, currently operating activities on six separate sites.
