ANDRITZ, an international technology group, has secured its ninth order for a PrimePress X shoe press from China's Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Ltd.

This latest order is destined for Lee & Man's Best Eternity Recycle Technology mill in Banting, Malaysia, where it is anticipated to enhance energy efficiency and elevate paper quality. The installation of the new shoe press is scheduled for the PM26 containerboard machine, which operates at a design speed of 1,000 m/min and produces high-quality Testliner within the 70 – 160 gsm basis weight range.

Replacing the existing conventional third nip within the center roll-based concept, the PrimePress X shoe press is equipped with an array of features including an ANDRITZ PrimeRoll X and a PrimeRoll HV-Smart anti-deflection roll, in addition to an Impulse grooved shoe press belt. These enhancements will raise the line load to 1,250 N/mm, resulting in heightened off-press dryness of the paper web. The outcome is substantial energy savings, enhanced machine runnability—especially at lower basis weights—and improved final paper strength attributes.

This order underscores the robust and fruitful partnership between Lee & Man and ANDRITZ. Already, three PrimePress X shoe presses have been operational at the Banting mill since 2020, 2021, and 2022 respectively, with two more scheduled for imminent startup. Furthermore, three shoe presses from ANDRITZ have been in service at Lee & Man's Dongguan mill in China for several years.

Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing, established in 1994, specializes in producing linerboards and corrugating medium for industrial packaging applications. The company manages five paper mills and one pulp mill within China, in addition to several production facilities spread across Vietnam, Malaysia, and other countries.
