ANDRITZ to optimize fiberline at Stora Enso’s Enocell mill for more flexible and sustainable production

7 August 2023

ANDRITZ, an international technology group, has been commissioned by Stora Enso to enhance the fiberline at the Enocell pulp mill in Uimaharju, Finland. This project aims to cater to the increasing demand for non-bleached renewable packaging materials while also reducing the mill's ecological impact.

By utilizing ANDRITZ's advanced technologies, the customer will gain the necessary flexibility to meet market demands effectively. Moreover, the optimization process will lead to improved operational reliability, cost efficiency, and a significant reduction in chemical, freshwater, and energy consumption.

This order exemplifies the strong business partnership between ANDRITZ and Stora Enso and aligns with Stora Enso's growth strategy in the sustainable packaging sector. The modernization will be carried out in a phased manner, with completion expected by the fourth quarter of 2024.

The Enocell pulp mill, situated in eastern Finland, is part of Stora Enso's Biomaterials division. It boasts an annual production capacity of 630,000 tonnes of softwood and hardwood pulp and was established in 1967, complemented by a sawmill on the site.
