AFRY partners with Metsä Tissue to build a Future Mill in Mariestad, Sweden

Metsä Tissue, a division of Metsä Group, is committed to advancing both environmental sustainability and operational excellence in tissue paper production. To achieve this goal, they are embarking on a modernization and expansion initiative at their paper mill in Mariestad. In this endeavor, AFRY, a recognized leader in the industrial sector, has played a vital role, not only in the pre-project phase but also as a selected partner for various services during the construction phase.

AFRY's responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of tasks, including the expansion and adaptation of existing mills. This involvement extends to actively participating in Metsä Tissue's project organization, where AFRY will contribute to construction management, scheduling, and the coordination of engineering activities.

Esa Paavolainen, VP Projects at Metsä Tissue, acknowledges AFRY's expertise and track record in the industrial sector, stating, "AFRY is a widely known and experienced player in the industrial sector, which provides competence in many fields of technology – therefore it is great to have them supporting us in this unique project."

AFRY's contributions also extend to the realms of engineering services encompassing construction and architecture, land and environment, and process and piping. Additionally, they will be responsible for providing local engineering support to foreign suppliers. This support includes offering guidance and training to ensure compliance with local regulations.
