Cigarette Filter Paper

The research and development team at SwissQualityPaper used all their experience to become the first in the market to develop a type of filter-paper that can be used in cigarettes. The most commonly used filter today is made up of a plasticized acetate fiber, which does little filtration and remains a big part of the global waste problem due to its non-biodegradable nature. We aim to change that by bringing in this paper, which is not only biodegradable but also has much better filtration properties. These filtration properties can be further influenced by the introduction of functional materials during production, such as activated carbon. Our development with some specialty filter producers has led to significant breakthroughs, making this new-age product the subject to special cigarettes and test markets.

PRODUCT STRATEGY

The development of this product was done in collaboration with the companies that design some of the most commonly used machinery in the filter-making industry. Following that, we have continuously adapted our paper as per the requirements / specifications of the cigarette companies and of the filter-making companies. Our own specialised paper laboratory allows us to adapt our paper to the most specific functions and features.

The use of this paper can make cigarette smoking less harmful due to better filtration and reduce the problem of the accumulating cigarette-butt waste around the world. The specialty filters can also be a key factor for product or brand differentiation for cigarette and cigarette companies producing companies with the growing regulations towards plain packaging.

The standard quality of our filter-paper is certified by the German Tobacco Law Regulations, while our special grades, designed for specific customers, are also certified by food-grade standards.
