Thermal paper suppliers are satisfied with business development in Western Europe

23 November 2016

The thermal paper market in Western Europe was shaping up to be good in the fourth quarter, even though no new shipment records would be set.

Order intake and capacity utilisation in the paper mills in spring and early summer 2016 were exceptional, but this resulted in part from one-off effects and changes in the supply structures.

On 17 November, the EC then announced a 12.1% provisional anti-dumping duty to apply on deliveries by the Hansol group and other South Korean importers to EU countries. According to several market experts, this was a significant decision for the thermal paper market that would restore fair conditions of competition in the EU.
