Siempelkamp to supply integrated concept with lead engineering to KronoStar's Sharya particleboard plant in Russia

18 December 2015

Siempelkamp will supply to KronoStar a complete plant for the production of particleboard for the company's Sharya location in Russia, Siempelkamp announced. The special feature of this order: With three-dimensional survey-ing of the entire factory, the new plant design can be integrated and custom-fitted into the existing infrastructure on site without any delays during planning.

KronoStar in Sharya, 600 km to the north west of Moscow, is one location of KronoHolding headquartered in Lucerne. Next to particleboard production the company also operates an  MDF plant with a 9' x 48.7 m ContiRoll®  press which was also supplied by Siempelkamp. Both partners have been in a business relationship with each other for many decades.

The order is for a complete plant for the production of particleboard including the wood yard and a universal drum flaker made by Hombak with a production capacity of 25 ton/h bone dry. This equipment allows KronoStar to manufacture high-quality light-weight boards. The scope of supply also includes a Büttner drum dryer with a material throughput of 36 ton/h bone dry, screens and sifters made by Siempelkamp's subsidiary CMC, a resin blending sys-tem with resin kitchen as well as a 4-head forming station. The heart of the plant is a 6’ x 28.8 m ContiRoll® press. In addition to the forming line, the scope of supply also includes a cooling and stacking line and mechanical and pneumatic conveyors.

Quality concept: 'Lead Engineering' by Sicoplan

The special feature of the order is that the new equipment will be integrated into the existing infrastructure at the Sharya location which already includes a particleboard and MDF plant. Thanks to the 3-dimensional surveying by Sicoplan this ambitious project is optimally pre-pared. "To carry out this measuring method to such an extent is, in light of the complex gen-eral conditions, a special feature," explains Dr.-Ing. Hans Fechner, spokesman for the man-agement of G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG. "In this way, planning errors should not arise in the first place."

With 'Lead Engineering', Sicoplan establishes the basic conditions for a problem-free installa-tion of the new press line in an existing factory with ongoing production. The Belgium Siem-pelkamp subsidiary designs all components with the concrete knowledge of the actual local conditions and infrastructure. Existing components in the factory are updated as part of the order. The planning tasks also incorporate the necessary plant extensions for the new produc-tion line. Siempelkamp will carry out the required steel construction (1,500 metric tons). The new production line for particleboards will enable KronoStar to increase production capacities at the Sharya location by 1,200 m³/day.
