Following a three-day strike two weeks ago, workers at Lecta's Papeteries de Condat mill in France have downed tools again. Coated woodfree paper production is currently standing still.

The employees of Lecta's French Papeteries de Condat mill are on strike and production of coated woodfree paper is currently down as a result. According to French union Filpac CGT, employees downed tools on 16 March and the action is still continuing. The workers representatives are asking for a salary increase of 2% as from 1 January 2015 and of another 1% from the beginning of July, Filpac CGT reports. However, the parties have not come to an agreement yet.

This is the second strike at the mill in two weeks. A strike action had already taken place from 3 to 6 March, according to Filpac CGT. The union said that negotiations had been resumed the following week but were not successful, resulting in a continuation of the strike.

Papeteries de Condat produces coated woodfree paper with an annual capacity of around 450,000 t. In July 2013, the company had shut down PM 6 at the site. At the time, mill capacity was reduced to the tune of 130,000 tpy and the workforce was downsized by 139 employees.
