Palm invests in combined cycle gas turbines

11 February 2017

Palm believes in generating energy by investing in Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) at all five of its paper mills, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The implementation of two new CCGTs at the production sites in King’s Lynn (UK) and Descartes (France) began in 2016. The newly installed turbines will be started up in 2018 with the aim to provide the total energy usage of both these paper mills.

These efficient turbines, operating at a rate of 90%, will ensure that the required energy and steam demands are generated for the paper production. The projects will also result in reductions in the respective carbon footprints at both mills and further endorses its commitment to the protection of the environment.

Palm is one of the leading companies in the European paper industry. The Palm Group is divided into Papierfabrik Palm with its 5 paper mills for the manufacture of paper and Palm Packaging Group with 26 plants for the manufacture of corrugated board.
