Nippon Paper Industries to build a demonstration plant at Fuji mill in Japan

6 February 2018

Nippon Paper Industries plans to build a demonstration plant at Fuji mill in Japan to drive the development of practical applications of "MinerPa®"; a set of new functional materials created by compounding particulate minerals and wood pulp (cellulose fibers) using the Company's own unique pulp-modification technologies.

The newly introducing "MinerPa®" demonstration plant will start up the operation in October 2018 with an annual production capacity of more than 450 tons.

The Company has already begun the pre-marketing of "MinerPa®" since February 2017 with three different types of functions (deodorizing/antibacterial properties, flame retardancy and X-ray radiation shielding effects). Besides, the Company is now working to develop the technologies of "MinerPa®" with new functionalities such as antiviral properties to meet the customer demands.
