The idling of obsolete paper machines in China which no longer met environmental standards in the last years makes space for new investments. Shangrao City Lulin Paper will build a 700,000 tpy containerboard mill in the country.

Chinese company Shangrao City Lulin Paper plans to build a greenfield mill for containerboard production in Shangrao in the Chinese province of Jiangxi. According to machine engineering company Valmet, the new mill is to have a capacity of 700,000 tpy of liner and fluting.

Valmet furthermore reported that Lulin Paper had placed an order for a grade conversion rebuild. A paper machine would be relocated to the new site and converted to produce fluting with a basis weight range of 60-100 g/m² in the future, Valmet said. PM 5 will reportedly have a width of 8,650 mm and a design speed of 1,300 m/min. The machine is scheduled to start up in early 2020.

Valmet describes Lulin Paper as a family-owned company which specialises in the production of corrugated case material as well as coreboard.
