Mark-ups for French recovered paper in April

26 April 2016

Prices for ordinary as well as deinking grades in France have gone up in April thanks to good demand and low arisings.

Prices for mixed paper and OCC have moved upwards in April in France. This is the second mark-up for these grades after prices had already been raised in March. Merchants have also been able to raise prices for sorted graphic paper for deinking and unsold newspapers after prices had already been under pressure in March without moving anywhere.

Market participants attribute this trend to good demand coupled with a supply situation which is not extraordinary. Paper manufacturers were filling up their stocks after inventories had been partially quite low in March, experts said. In addition, collection volumes were stable, but not very high in April.
