Magazine paper buyers in the UK ask for lower prices

25 June 2015

Strong pound sterling is keeping prices in check in many market segments

When compared to Continental European markets, the UK is facing a somewhat different set of circumstances for talks that are now getting under way for magazine paper prices. British LWC prices are too high to negotiate about raising prices, something that did happen on the continent.

Manufacturers feel that they are in a defensive position for LWC since buyers want to put pressure on prices bringing them more into line with those in mainland Europe at a price gap of up to €100. This is not an option for manufacturers working close to break-even, they have set their sights on keeping prices the same from 1 July onwards.
