Leipa to stop production of rotogravure LWC

17 November 2018

German paper producer Leipa Georg Leinfelder intends to discontinue the production of gravure LWC in the future. The company, producing 100% recycled coated magazine and catalogue paper said it was confronted with sharply rising raw material costs in the gravure printing paper sector. It can be assumed that this situation will continue, or in some cases that it will even worsen, the company explains. Consequently, a price increase is emerging for rotogravure LWC that is no longer economically viable from the customer's point of view.

Based on the above assumptions, the company has not planned any production of gravure paper for 2019. This grade will only be produced until the end of the year, Leipa said. In the market for LWC the company will then focus 100 % on offset grades.
