High starch demand contributes to upward price trend

25 September 2015

Players in the Western European starch market have already signed contracts that include price increases.

A clear trend has emerged in the starch products market as negotiations on supply and price agreements for the fourth quarter are seen to be finalised unusually early. Manufacturers and customers alike say they have already signed contracts that include price increases, varying depending on grade, base line, volume and contract duration.

Starch manufacturers explained that price hikes would be widely implemented in the fourth quarter on the back of a margin squeeze as well as pronounced demand, especially for cereal starches.
